Croatia celebrates Month of the Croatian Book with regional programs
Various cultural initiatives are underway across Croatia to mark the Month of the Croatian Book 2026, themed “From Stories to Discoveries.”
In Pazin, the City Library is hosting a series of programs from October 26 to 31. These include “Some New Kids,” where high school students will present scientific topics such as Chinese medicine, matter and antimatter, lucid dreaming, and the cognitive benefits of chess. Other scheduled events include a session with children's author Maja Šimleša and a lecture on electric vehicles by Ivan Guštin.
In Karlovac County, the “Turn the Page, Break the Barrier” project is bringing literary content to remote areas via a mobile library service. Author Hrvoje Kovačević recently visited students at the elementary school in Cetingrad to present his children's book series. The project, led by the Karlovac City Library alongside partners Frendofon and DronE, aims to provide cultural access to underserved communities and will feature several other Croatian authors in upcoming visits.
