Croatia celebrates regional linguistic and musical heritage

Cultural events in Croatia recently highlighted regional linguistic and musical heritage. In Virovitica, Natalija Vidak presented her debut poetry collection, ‘O’te vi’te’, which aims to preserve the Mikeši dialect. The collection contains 110 poems based on documentary, historical, and lyrical themes, capturing childhood memories and ancestral traditions to ensure the dialect remains a living part of the local identity.

In Kastav, a musical spectacle titled ‘Tvoja zemlja’ was held at Crekvina to honor the 90th anniversary of the birth of artist Vice Vukov. The concert featured various performers, including the HRT Tamburaški orkestar and the Kastav male and female choirs, celebrating Vukov’s legacy as a musician who performed across the Štokavian, Kajkavian, and Čakavian dialects.
