Croatia commemorates 1100 years of statehood with new monograph
A new monograph titled ‘1100 years from the Split Church Councils and the Beginnings of the Croatian Kingdom’ has been officially presented at the Archbishop's Pastoral Institute. The publication commemorates the national jubilee events of the Holy Year 2025, which Croatia designated as the year to mark the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian Kingdom.
The jubilee traces back to the year 925, following a letter from Pope John X regarding the First Church Council of Split, which included the first mention of the Croatian ruler Tomislav with the title ‘rex’ (king). The monograph, published by the Croatian Bishops' Conference and printed by Glas Koncila, spans over 300 pages and documents the historical, cultural, and religious heritage of the nation.
Zagreb Archbishop Dražen Kutleša noted during the presentation that Croatian statehood has been closely linked to the Christian faith since its inception, helping the nation establish its place among European peoples.
