Croatia completes EU‑funded energy retrofits of apartment blocks in Požega and Zadar

Komunalac Požega finished an EU‑co‑funded energy renovation of the multi‑apartment building at Antuna Gustava Matoša 28‑30. The project cost €471,087.61, of which €377,997.15 came from the EU Recovery and Resilience Plan. Works included exterior wall insulation, roof insulation, window replacement and installation of photovoltaic panels. The building’s energy rating improved from class E to class C, achieving a 67.84 % reduction in heat‑energy demand, a 63.59 % cut in CO₂ emissions and a 60.70 % saving of primary energy.

In Zadar, the building at Put Murvice 6 was upgraded under a similar EU‑backed scheme. Total project value was €385,227.54, with €233,673.17 provided by EU funds. After the retrofit the energy class rose from C to A, delivering an 80.32 % reduction in heating‑energy use, a 25.61 % saving of primary energy and an 80.32 % cut in CO₂ emissions (21.35 t per year). The works also repaired roof leaks, thermal bridges and mold issues, improving durability and living conditions. Both projects were executed by local contractors and supervised by engineering firms, and were funded through Croatia’s National Plan for Recovery and Resilience.
