Croatia declares natural disaster due to drought in multiple regions
Authorities in Croatia have declared a state of natural disaster due to drought across several regions, including Požeško-slavonska County and the municipality of Pisarovina. The declaration follows a prolonged period of high temperatures and a lack of rainfall during June, July, and August 2026.
In Požeško-slavonska County, Prefect Antonija Jozić issued the decision covering the cities of Požega, Kutjevo, Lipik, Pakrac, and Pleternica, as well as the municipalities of Brestovac, Čaglin, Kaptol, Jakšić, and Velika. The drought has caused significant material damage to spring and autumn crops, clover-grass mixtures, fish ponds, orchards, and vineyards.
In Pisarovina, residents who suffered agricultural damage between May 1 and August 31, 2026, are required to report their losses to the Municipal Commission for the Assessment of Damage from Natural Disasters. The deadline for submitting these reports is September 23, 2026.
