Croatia delivers new specialized forest‑fire trucks to Virovitica and nearby municipalities

Four new specialized forest‑fire vehicles were handed over to fire squads in Virovitica, Čaglin, Vinica and Jarmina as part of the third contingency financed by public forest‑function funds. The delivery was marked at the State Fire School in Zagreb and quoted chief fire commander Slavko Tucaković, who said the trucks will strengthen response to open‑area and difficult‑terrain fires.

The third contingency brings the total contract to 78 vehicles—40 with 2,500‑litre water tanks and 38 with 5,000‑litre tanks—equipped with four‑wheel drive, high‑capacity pumps and additional firefighting gear. In Virovitica, a 2,500‑litre truck valued at €277,000 was received, described by fire chief Robert Teskera as a modern, more mobile unit that will improve access to remote and weekend‑settlement areas. It is the first of an expected 15 new fire vehicles slated for delivery across the Virovitica‑Podravina County this year, funded jointly by the Croatian government, the national fire community and local authorities.
