Croatia expands cultural tourism with Midsummer Scene Festival and new Modrić film

The privately founded Midsummer Scene Festival in Dubrovnik marked its 12th season, presenting the English‑language production “One for All – A Three Musketeers Tale” directed by Sean Ait at the historic Lovrijenac fortress. Organisers Jelena Maržić, Darija Mikulandra Žanetić and Filip Krenus highlighted the festival’s growth from a modest initiative to an internationally recognised cultural‑tourist offering, noting the challenges of financing and the importance of combining heritage sites with professional theatre for foreign visitors.

Separately, Croatia’s national tourism board released a sequel to its promotional film “Croatia – I hear it’s beautiful”, featuring football captain Luka Modrić and actor John Malkovich. The short film, produced ahead of a World Cup round‑of‑16 match, showcases the country’s attractions, including the sea organ in Zadar, and links Croatia’s natural beauty with Modrić’s sporting reputation. Creative director Pete Radovich oversaw the project, which aims to reinforce Croatia’s image as a premier tourist destination.
