Croatia expands mobile library service with new bibliokombi vehicles
The City Library of Split received a grant from the Ministry of Culture and Media to purchase a bibliokombi, a small mobile library designed to reach vulnerable groups and residents in areas without a nearby library. The project, named “Za dobre vibre i dalje čitaj libre,” is funded through the European Social Fund Plus as part of the national strategy to promote reading.
In Daruvar, the municipal library and reading room launched a related program called “Čitateljski putokazi,” also financed by the ESF+ 2021‑2027 fund. The initiative includes a bibliokombi that will deliver books and workshops to Daruvar, Končanica, Dežanovac, Sirač and Đulovac, targeting children, youth, seniors and people with disabilities. Both projects aim to expand inclusive library services, improve literacy and foster community engagement across the Split‑Dalmatia and Bjelovar‑Bilogora regions.
