Heavy traffic jams on Croatia's A1 highway near Karlovac and Lučko

On the A1 motorway between the Karlovac interchange and the Lučko toll plaza, traffic is moving in long queues with frequent stop‑and‑go conditions. The congestion is caused by multiple accidents – one before the Donja Zdenčina interchange toward Dubrovnik and another between the Karlovac and Jastrebarsko interchanges toward Zagreb – creating a three‑kilometre‑long column. Increased vehicle density has also been reported between the Lučko toll and the Zadar‑East interchange in both directions.

Hrvatski autoklub (HAK) warns drivers to maintain safety distances, be patient and stay focused. A strong bura wind along the coast has led to temporary restrictions on certain vehicle types and speed limits on parts of the Adriatic highway. Police advice includes adapting speed to conditions and observing traffic police directions, especially near toll stations and in work zones.
