Croatia faces ownership dispute over Roški Slap hydroelectric plant
A legal dispute has surfaced regarding the ownership of the Roški Slap hydroelectric plant (HE Roški Slap) in Croatia. Court records from the Municipal Court in Šibenik and the County Court in Zadar have confirmed that the plant is 100% state property, belonging to the Republic of Croatia.
The controversy involves Mikrosiverit d.d., a legal successor to a state-owned mining company, which established two private entities: Mikrosiverit – Za Dom d.o.o. and Hidrowat MHE Roški Slap d.o.o. These private firms reportedly sued the state to establish ownership rights over the plant. Despite multiple court rulings affirming state ownership, the Croatian government has not yet taken control of the facility to hand it over to the state-owned energy company, HEP.
