The annual Vino i vruja festival was held on Saturday 1 August in the coastal town of Ika, Croatia. Organized by the Udruge Ikarski barkajoli, divers recovered around 4,500 bottles that have spent the past twelve months at a depth of roughly twenty metres, where the water stays at a constant 12‑14 °C. The event, which began in 2015 with just 350 bottles, now draws about fifteen well‑known Istrian and Kvarner wineries, including Acinger (with the Belica group), Kabola, Rossi, Herman, Ferenac, Mandić, Prelac, Fuhtar, Vorić, Marčeta, Vozila and Franković.

After the morning retrieval, the bottles are opened for tasting, followed by a program of food, music and a wine‑pairing session that moves to the Ika square in the evening. Members of the European Wine Knights order take part in the night celebration. Simultaneously, newly filled barrels are lowered back to the seabed to begin the next cycle of marine aging.
