Croatia holds business forum in New York to boost U.S. trade and tourism

A Croatian economic delegation, organized by the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) and the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ), is visiting the United States. A Croatian-American business forum is scheduled to take place in New York on September 24, featuring the participation of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.

The forum aims to strengthen bilateral business ties and encourage new investments. It is expected to bring together more than 30 Croatian companies and approximately 70 American companies. Luka Burilović, President of the HGK, noted that the U.S. is a vital non-European partner for diversifying Croatian exports, particularly for high-value-added products and services.

In the tourism sector, Kristjan Staničić, Director of the HTZ, identified the U.S. as Croatia's most important long-distance tourism market. He reported that American arrivals and overnight stays have increased by over 30 percent since 2019, with a 6 percent growth recorded in the first eight months of this year. Improved direct air connectivity, including routes between New York and Dubrovnik and New York and Split, is expected to further support this growth.
