Croatia Honors War Veterans in Memorial Races and Anniversary Ceremonies

A memorial race was held in Biograd na Moru, where local runner Mario Soldo completed the event and paid tribute at the monument to the fallen Croatian defender Jozo Tomić and his comrades.

In Osijek, the 35th anniversary of the city’s defenders was observed with a two‑day programme that included a memorial run called “Crveni fićo”, formal military parades, wreath‑laying at the Kapelica Kraljice Mira, speeches by city officials, the defence minister and the regional governor, and the renaming of streets in honour of wartime units. The events highlighted the continued respect for those who fought in the Croatian War of Independence.
