Sancta Barbara Wooden Chapel Festival to Run July 5‑12 Across Turopolje Region

The 8th Sancta Barbara Festival of wooden chapels will take place from 5 to 12 July, offering eight concerts that turn the historic wooden chapels of Turopolje, Pokuplje and the Vukomeričke hills into active cultural venues. The programme highlights the heritage of the two chapels of St Barbara in Velika Mlaka and Brest Pokupski, linking two counties and dioceses. Performances will feature an international ensemble of flautist Ana Benić Šalinović, violist Parvaz Salimov, violoncellist Tonka Javorović and harpist Hana Paraušić, presenting works ranging from Ravel and Enescu to Bartók and Piazzolla. Organisers stress that the festival “transforms these valuable heritage sites into living places of art, history and contemporary cultural life.”
