Croatia infrastructure projects begin on Odra overpass and Matulje-Opatija junction

Major infrastructure maintenance and reconstruction projects have commenced in Croatia. Extensive renovation work on the Odra overpass began on October 19, 2026. The project aims to repair the 131.75-meter structure, including its abutments, spans, and pillars, to prevent material degradation and ensure long-term safety. The work is organized into three phases and is expected to continue until summer 2027.

Simultaneously, reconstruction and expansion works are starting at the Matulje–Opatija junction. The project, managed by the Rijeka Traffic Center and executed by GP Krk, involves a three-phase traffic regulation plan. The first phase includes the closure of ramps 3 and 4 for 50 days. Subsequent phases will involve repairs to the Živice south viaduct and the redirection of traffic to the new Živice north viaduct. Authorities have warned of increased traffic loads at the Diračje junction and advised motorists to exercise caution.
