Croatia introduces transparent financing rules for sport
The Ministry of Tourism and Sport published the "Pravilnik o programu javnih potreba u sportu na državnoj razini" in the official gazette Narodne novine. The regulation becomes effective eight days after its publication.
It mandates public disclosure of every euro of state‑funded sport financing, covering funds from state‑owned enterprises, the Croatian Tourist Board, counties, cities and municipalities. A standardized planning and monitoring system is introduced, with real‑time digital tracking through the National Information System in Sport (NISUS).
Minister Tonči Glavina said the measure marks a step toward a more accountable funding system and called for full cooperation from the new leadership of the Croatian Olympic Committee. He also announced that the Sport Law will be amended by year‑end to create a clearer, more transparent allocation process for national sport federations.
