Croatia investigates potential 80 million euro loss in Rimac project

The deadline for the implementation of the autonomous vehicle project by Verne Mate Rimac, formerly known as Project 3 Mobility, is approaching on August 31. The project is funded by the Croatian National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Questions have been raised regarding the potential recovery of approximately 80 million euros if the company fails to meet its contractual obligations. Inquiries have been directed to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković regarding whether the government is negotiating the return of funds or analyzing the financial capacity of Verne to repay the allocated resources. Additionally, questions were posed to State Attorney Ivan Turudić concerning whether the State Attorney's Office (DORH) is monitoring the project's status or investigating potential criminal liability should the failure to meet targets transition from a contractual issue to a matter of criminal interest.
