Croatia invests in cultural heritage and building renovations

The Murter-Kornati Municipality has secured funding for the ‘Di more’ project, a €152,255.30 initiative aimed at renovating the settlement center. The project focuses on transforming public spaces through the installation of spatial and interpretive installations, graphic panels, and QR codes to connect visitors with local heritage and traditions. This effort is closely linked to the Amphorarium Interpretation Centre to enhance the region's cultural and tourist identity.

Separately, the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media has completed the energy renovation of 35 cultural institution buildings over the last five years. Utilizing over €43 million from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the project covers more than 70,000 square meters of space, including museums, libraries, archives, and theaters.

Notable completed projects include the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments in Split, which now features solar panels and improved climate control, and the Governor's Palace and University Library in Rijeka. Other renovated sites include the Meštrović Gallery, the State Archives in Gospić, and various museums and theaters in Bjelovar, Dubrovnik, Varaždin, and Šibenik. These renovations aim to reduce energy costs and improve conditions for preserving cultural heritage and hosting programs.
