Croatia issues travel warning to Serbia amid arrests
Tensions have escalated between Croatia and Serbia following the arrest of individuals in Novi Sad, Vrnjačka Banja, and Belgrade. Serbian authorities allege the detainees were planning violent unrest during the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25. Serbian media reported that two of the suspects hold Croatian passports.
The Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs stated it has received no official notification from Serbian authorities regarding these arrests. Croatian officials have dismissed the allegations as baseless claims linked to Serbia’s internal political developments.
In response to the situation, Croatia has advised its citizens to exercise caution when traveling to Serbia and to postpone non-essential travel due to political and security concerns. The incident follows ongoing friction between the two nations, with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić previously accusing Croatia of attempting to influence Serbian domestic affairs.
