Croatia launches 20 million euro subsidy program for electric vehicles

The Croatian government has announced a new subsidy program for the purchase of energy-efficient vehicles, with a total budget of 20 million euros. The initiative, managed by the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, aims to support the acquisition of approximately 3,000 new electric vehicles.

Unlike previous rounds that included legal entities and craftsmen, this year's call is specifically directed at individual citizens. The program excludes plug-in hybrids and hydrogen-powered vehicles. Applications are set to begin on October 28, and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, making early preparation of documentation critical for interested buyers.

The program expects to reduce CO2 emissions by 3,000 tonnes and achieve significant energy savings. For example, certain electric SUVs could see price reductions of up to 12,000 euros when combining manufacturer offers with state subsidies.
