Croatia launches major urban greening projects in Dubrovnik and Labin

In Dubrovnik, works have begun on the "Drvored – zeleni prsten oko Grada" project on Uz Posat street. The five‑month scheme will plant 57 trees—including 11 Canary palms, 24 Washingtonia robusta, and 22 Pittosporum tobira—replace old concrete surfaces, add a decorative fountain and low‑impact lighting, and preserve existing vegetation. The total cost is €447,912.25, with €278,500 (62 %) funded by the national environmental and energy efficiency fund.

Meanwhile, the town of Labin is renovating the former Cere non‑hazardous waste dump, transforming roughly two hectares into a permanent green area. Funding combines €1,692,638.5 from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and an additional €199,134 from the same environmental fund. The works, carried out by Opera Group for the municipality and waste company "1. maj", include site stabilization, a final cover system, leachate collection, drainage improvements, and full re‑vegetation, with completion targeted for later this year.
