Croatia launches public funding call for Roma settlement construction

The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and State Property has issued a public call to allocate financial support for spatial planning and construction projects in areas inhabited by Roma for 2026. Eligible applicants are local government units that, according to the 2021 census, have more than 1% of their population belonging to the Roma national minority – at least 20 Roma residents. Each unit may submit a single application, and priority is given to those that did not sign a funding agreement with the ministry in 2025.

Supported activities include the preparation of spatial (urban) plans, project‑technical documentation such as concept, detailed, and parcel‑allocation studies needed to obtain building permits. Projects must contribute to the objectives of the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Roma Inclusion Plan 2021‑2027, aiming to reduce poverty and social exclusion among Roma communities. The ministry will co‑finance the projects with €79,634 from the state budget. Applications can be submitted within 60 days of publication, until 22 August.
