Croatia loses €200 million in tax revenue from Uber and Bolt

Parliamentary representative Marin Miletić (Most) warned that Croatia has missed about €200 million in tax revenue over the past ten years because ride‑hailing platforms Uber and Bolt pay taxes abroad. He estimates the platforms avoid roughly €20 million each year, with local taxi drivers losing up to €3,600 in taxes annually due to the cross‑border business model.

Miletić urged the government to amend legislation so that the platforms are taxed where they earn money, stating that the missed €200 million could fund the reconstruction of Zagreb’s earthquake‑damaged schools, kindergartens and a new national children’s hospital. He criticised Transport Minister Oleg Butković and Finance Minister Tomislav Ćorić for allowing the current situation and called on the Croatian Chamber of Trades to protect domestic operators. "Uber and Bolt earn millions of euros on Croatian roads but operate through foreign companies, avoiding Croatian taxes," he said.
