Croatia man convicted for false murder report in Pitomača
A 20-year-old man from the Pitomača area has been convicted of making a false report to the police. The incident occurred on September 21 of last year, when the individual called the Virovitica-Podravina Police Administration's operational center using a false identity.
The individual claimed that a murder had taken place at a specific address in Pitomača and reported finding a bloody bag containing a body in a garden. This prompted an emergency response from the Pitomača Police Station. Upon investigation, officers determined that no such murder had occurred and that the report was entirely fabricated.
The Municipal Court in Virovitica handed down a non-final sentence of five months of suspended imprisonment, meaning the sentence will not be served if the individual does not commit another offense within one year. The court also ordered the return of the Samsung Galaxy A54 used to make the call and required the payment of 40 euros in legal costs.
