Croatia Minister Šipić highlights family support and demographic trends in Poličnik

During a ceremonial session of the Poličnik Municipal Council, Croatia’s Minister of Demography and Migration, Ivan Šipić, emphasized the importance of family-centric policies for regional development. He noted that Poličnik serves as a model for creating conditions that encourage residents to stay through responsible management, infrastructure investment, and support for young families.

Šipić reported a positive demographic trend, stating that approximately 400 more children were born in Croatia in 2025 compared to the previous year. To sustain this momentum, the Ministry of Demography and Migration has significantly increased its budget for 2026 to 822 million euros, with parental supports reaching nearly one billion euros. Notable increases include parental leave compensation, which rose from 995 to nearly 3,000 euros, and doubled one-time support for newborns.
