Croatia pension fund assets exceed €29 billion amid rising member mobility

The value of pension savings in Croatia's second pillar funds reached €28.7 billion by mid-year, an 8.7% increase from the end of last year. As of August 10, total assets exceeded €29 billion. The number of members in mandatory pension funds (OMF) rose to 2,413,050 during the first half of the year.

Data indicates increased mobility among members, with more individuals choosing to switch between funds and categories. Notably, the percentage of new members independently selecting their pension fund rose to 7.65% in the first six months, compared to 4.5% last year.

AZ Pension Fund Company reported that its Category A funds saw returns of 10.32% in the first half of the year. However, the company cautioned that short-term fluctuations are not definitive indicators of investment success, emphasizing that strategy should be evaluated over longer time horizons. Since its inception, AZ's Category A funds have maintained an average annual return of 8.17%.
