Croatia public service salaries to increase via government mandate

Public service employees in Croatia, including primary and secondary school staff, will receive higher salaries following a government-mandated increase in the base salary calculation. The base salary for public services is being increased three times throughout 2026, with each increment amounting to one percent.

Following an initial increase in April to 1,015 euros gross, the base was raised to 1,025 euros gross effective August 1. This change will be reflected in the August salaries, which are scheduled to be paid on September 9, 2026. A third increase is set for December 1, raising the base to 1,035 euros gross, which will impact December salaries paid in January 2027.

The decision to implement these incremental increases was made by the Government after representative public service unions failed to reach an agreement on the three-step one-percent increase structure.
