Croatia pushes ahead with highway and rail expansion projects

The Croatian Roads Authority (Hrvatske ceste) has extended the contract for the TTTS‑Dugi Rat segment of the Adriatic highway, now setting a new deadline of 30 March 2027. The project, originally valued at €1.39 million, has been revised several times and the contract sum has risen to €1.47 million as additional design and geotechnical services are required.

Meanwhile, HŽ Infrastruktura has begun work on the second track between Hrvatski Leskovac and Karlovac. The Spanish firm Comsa, appointed in July, will carry out the €278.8 million construction, with a 36‑month schedule that targets completion by 2029. The works include new track laying, electrification and renovation of station buildings along the 44‑km corridor.
