Croatia ranks among top 10 global destinations for digital nomads
According to the Digital Nomad Friction Index 2026 by Holafly, Georgia ranks as the top destination for digital nomads due to minimal administrative hurdles, such as not requiring residency registration or a tax ID, and the ease of opening bank accounts with just a passport.
Peru holds the second position, aided by its Rentista visa category which allows for long-term residency with relatively low income requirements, though its ranking was impacted by risks from earthquakes and El Niño. South Africa follows in third place, offering easy banking and residency processes, despite having below-average healthcare services.
Thailand and Malaysia occupy the fourth and fifth spots, respectively, noted for their specialized digital nomad visas and straightforward banking, though both face challenges regarding natural disaster exposure. Croatia is recognized as a top European destination, ranking seventh in the overall global list.
