Croatia reports 147,607 students enrolled in higher education

According to data released by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS), there were 147,607 students enrolled in higher education institutions in Croatia during the winter semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Female students accounted for 58.7% of the total, numbering 86,608.

Regarding the type of institution, 83.2% of students were enrolled in faculties, 14.9% in polytechnics, 1.8% in art academies, and 0.1% in higher vocational schools. The majority of students (73.8%) were enrolled in regular studies, while 26.2% were in part-time studies.

In terms of fields of study, 91.9% of students were enrolled in scientific fields, 5.8% in interdisciplinary fields, and 2.3% in arts. Within the scientific disciplines, social sciences were the most prominent at 42.9%, followed by technical sciences at 28.8%. Among the arts, fine arts led with 24%, followed by design at 20.3% and music at 18.3%.
