Croatia reports 258,651 registered business entities

Data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) reveals that as of late June, Croatia had 258,651 registered business entities. Of these, 70.6% (182,724) are active.

Commercial companies represent the largest group with 178,104 registrations, of which 83.4% are active. The economic landscape is heavily driven by private ownership, which covers 80.8% of active legal entities. Activity is concentrated in four primary sectors: wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, professional, scientific, and technical activities, and other service activities.

Regarding employment, the majority of active legal entities are small-scale, with 54.2% employing between one and nine people. Notably, 34.8% of active entities reported having no employees.
