Regional police conduct major weekend traffic enforcement operations
Law enforcement agencies across Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia conducted extensive weekend traffic operations, resulting in thousands of recorded violations and numerous arrests.
In Croatia, police identified 5,749 total violations, including 437 cases of driving under the influence and 2,289 speeding offenses. Notable incidents included a 60-year-old driver operating a tractor while intoxicated and a 52-year-old man in Solin who was sentenced to 12 days in prison after fleeing police, causing an accident, and possessing drugs.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, heightened controls in Mostar, Čitluk, and Jablanica targeted alcohol consumption and illegal driving. These operations led to dozens of fines, several license revocations, and the removal of multiple drivers from the road due to intoxication or driving without valid documentation.
In Slovenia, police utilized stinger devices to stop a driver who refused to yield, resulting in damage to several police vehicles and minor injuries to an officer. Other regional reports noted various incidents involving modified mopeds and drug possession during traffic stops.
