Croatia retail schedules vary under Sunday trading laws
Following amendments to the Trade Act in Croatia, retail chains and shopping centers no longer operate automatically every weekend. Retailers are permitted to select only 16 working Sundays per year, leading to schedules that vary significantly based on season, location, and individual company assessments.
As the season shifts from summer to autumn, the focus of retail activity is moving from Adriatic coastal destinations toward the interior and major urban centers. Major supermarket chains, including Konzum, Lidl, Spar, Interspar, and Kaufland, adjust their operations by zone. Consumers are advised to check official store locators or apps, as availability depends on specific regional decisions and whether locations are situated within shopping malls.
