Croatia sanitary inspection finds irregularities in laser hair removal salons

The State Inspectorate's sanitary inspection has identified significant irregularities in laser hair removal salons across Croatia. Following an audit of 112 salons, inspectors found that 17 percent lacked the necessary permits and approvals.

Experts, including dermatovenerologist Dora Barić, have warned that the market is insufficiently regulated. The rise of low-cost, unverified devices and counterfeit machines poses serious health risks, including potential infections, burns, and blindness.

As a result of the inspections, 19 devices were sealed, and misdemeanor proceedings have been initiated against salon owners. Fines for non-compliance can reach 20,000 euros. Proper authorization requires a compliance report from an accredited laboratory and subsequent approval from the Ministry of Health.
