Croatia schools participate in environmental and recycling initiatives

Various ecological initiatives are being conducted in Croatia to promote environmental awareness among children. In Međimurje County, the company Unimer d. o. o. held an awards ceremony for the “Papir nije smeće” (Paper is not trash) campaign. This initiative involved 11 kindergartens and 20 primary schools, with a total of 6,074 children collecting over 170 tons of old paper. The top performing primary school was Osnovna škola Sveta Marija, which collected 12,960 kilograms of paper.

In Sisak, students at the Hrastelnica branch school participated in a cleaning and landscaping action to improve their school environment. Organized by waste management companies Gospodarenje otpadom Sisak d. o. o. and Komunalac Sisak d. o. o. in cooperation with the City of Sisak, the activity involved students from grades 1 to 4 cleaning waste and tending to green spaces to foster a sense of responsibility toward nature.
