Croatia sees growth in specialized retail and agricultural exports

In Croatia, specialized businesses are finding success through niche markets and high-quality exports. Harissa Spice Store, a gastro brand active for 14 years, is undergoing rebranding and planning to expand its retail presence and production facilities. The company operates physical stores in Zagreb, Split, and Rijeka, focusing on authentic spices, teas, and sustainable practices such as bulk sales using reusable packaging.

In the agricultural sector, Croatian livestock genetics are gaining international recognition. A bull named ‘Croatien’, bred by the Imbrišić family, was sold to an Austrian buyer for 35,000 euros. Despite Croatia being a major importer of milk within the EU, the country’s cattle breeding achieves top-tier results. The Ministry of Agriculture noted that the bull’s high-quality genetic profile is a result of long-term testing and breeding standards comparable to those in Germany and Austria.
