Croatia sees rise in domestic tourism during peak August season
Domestic tourists in Croatia outperformed international visitors during the peak August season. According to data from the Rudan Group, Croatian guests accounted for 21.59% of total overnight stays in August, surpassing German guests (14%) and Polish guests (10%). This trend of domestic market leadership was also observed in June and July.
National statistics from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics support this growth, noting that domestic tourists in commercial accommodation recorded 466,000 arrivals in August 2025, a 4.4% increase from the previous year, resulting in 2.3 million overnight stays. Biograd na Moru emerged as a leading destination for domestic travelers.
In the Korčula region, tourism figures showed a 2% increase in overnight stays and a 4% increase in arrivals from the start of the year through August. To sustain momentum during the off-season, the Korčula Baroque Festival is hosting its 15th anniversary, featuring vocal performances and an opera production to attract high-spending visitors during the autumn months.
