Croatia sees strong tourism rebound from Czech, Hungarian and Italian visitors

Preliminary eVisitor data show that Croatia's tourism sector recorded notable growth from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Italy during the first seven months of 2026. Czech arrivals rose 12% in July and 5% overall year‑to‑date, with the highest overnight stays in Istria, Split‑Dalmatia and Zadar counties, especially in Umag, Poreč and Medulin. Hungarian tourists increased 8% in July and 7% across the period, concentrating on the Kvarner and Istrian coasts and Zadar county. Italian visitors posted a modest rise of 1% in July and 2% over the full seven‑month span, favouring Istria and the Kvarner region for short weekend trips.

The upward trend follows several years of decline or stagnation from these markets and is expected to continue into August, traditionally a peak travel month for Italian holidaymakers.
