Croatia sees up to 70 candidates per retail and logistics job, Employa finds
An analysis by the Croatian software platform Employa, based on 16,000 applications and 350 job ads collected between 27 January and 1 June 2026, shows that a single retail or logistics position attracts 60‑70 candidates.
The most applied‑for role is sales (16.5 % of applications), followed by storekeeper (8.4 %), driver (5.6 %) and production worker (4 %). On social‑media job platforms, demand is highest in logistics and transport (18.2 %), trade (17.8 %) and production (15.5 %); the lowest demand is in health care (1.6 %) and electrical installation (2.6 %).
Application peaks occur at 21:00 on Fridays, with the weekend showing the lowest activity. About half of the activity comes from users over 41 years old. Zagreb accounts for 39 % of all job ads posted on social media, followed by Zagreb County (12 %) and Koprivnica‑Križevci County (8 %); Zadar and Istria each contribute only 3 %.
Employa founder Mihael Hergotić commented: “The peak of applications is at 9 p.m., and Friday is the strongest day. People apply from the couch, with a mobile phone in hand.”
