Croatia: Stimac eyes politics amid potential government reshuffle
Former football player and coach Slaven Stimac has expressed interest in entering politics. In a recent interview, Stimac stated, “I can see myself in politics,” emphasizing a desire to lead based on Catholic values rather than joining an existing party as a figurehead.
In environmental news, a dispute has emerged regarding hazardous waste in Gospić. The company Mundus Nova Projekt claims that a tenant, Tipos Resurs, violated contract terms by depositing 3,500 tons of waste, causing damage to surrounding land previously owned by Mundus. The company asserts it has been alerting inspectors to the situation since 2019.
Regarding government stability, there are reports of a potential reshuffle within the Croatian administration. Discussions involve the possible departure or transfer of Interior Minister Davor Božinović amid a crisis in the police system. While Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has not officially confirmed any decisions, rumors suggest a significant rotation that could see Božinović move to diplomacy and other ministerial changes.
