Croatia swears in 900 new conscripts at ceremonies in Požega, Knin and Slunj

A total of 900 conscripts took the oath of allegiance to the Republic of Croatia in simultaneous ceremonies held at the 123rd Brigade barracks in Požega, the “General‑Bojnik Andrija Matijaš – Pauk” barracks in Knin and the Eugen Kvaternik training area near Slunj. Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ivan Anušić attended the Slunj ceremony, wishing the recruits success, health and a rewarding two‑month basic training period. Chief of the General Staff General‑Pukovnik Tihomir Kundid and Ground Forces Commander General‑Bojnik Blaž Beretin addressed the new soldiers, emphasizing duty, discipline and the potential for some to pursue professional military careers. A prominent Croatian world champion was also seen in uniform, joining the oath‑taking. The basic training programme runs from 18 May to 18 July 2026, with 400 conscripts in Požega, 300 in Knin and 200 in Slunj.
