Croatia to begin flu vaccinations in November with 420,000 doses

Influenza vaccination in Croatia is scheduled to begin in early November, following the arrival of the vaccine supply. The Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ) has procured 420,000 doses of trivalent inactivated vaccine for the upcoming season. Most of the ordered doses are expected by late October, with the remainder arriving in December.

The vaccine composition has been updated in accordance with World Health Organization recommendations. Protection typically develops within 10 to 15 days after administration. Vaccination will be available through family medicine practitioners, county institutes of public health, and HZJZ epidemiological clinics.

Free vaccination is designated for specific high-risk groups, including individuals over 65, chronic patients, pregnant women, healthcare workers, and residents or employees of elderly and chronic care facilities. Those not eligible for free vaccination may purchase the vaccine at pharmacies via private prescription for administration by a physician.
