Croatia to launch €22 million electric‑vehicle co‑funding programme

The final conference of the "Vozimo EKOnomično" project was held in Zagreb, organized by the Fund for Protection of Environment and Energy Efficiency. Ministers Marija Vučković (Environment and Green Transition), Tomislav Mihotić (Sea, Transport and Infrastructure) and Fund director Luka Balen presented the results of the existing e‑mobility incentives and outlined future steps.

The Fund announced a new public call that will be issued in autumn, offering up to €22 million in co‑financing for citizens to purchase energy‑efficient vehicles. To date the programme, supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, has co‑financed more than 2,000 electric cars for entrepreneurs and about 11,000 vehicles of various categories for private users, totalling roughly €63 million. The Fund has also financed around 15,000 solar installations for households.

The broader strategy aims to invest €974 million by 2032 in sustainable transport, including at least 6,180 zero‑emission vehicles and trains, more than 6,500 shared electric cars and bikes, and a €45 million call for zero‑emission taxis and delivery vehicles. A further €45 million instrument through HBOR is being prepared for citizen purchases, and six electric‑battery trains have already been bought for €56.3 million. Officials stressed that expanding the charging‑station network, improving public transport and creating a supportive regulatory environment are essential for wider adoption of e‑mobility in Croatia.
