Croatia summer vacation trends show decline due to costs
A study by Alma Career Croatia, through the portal MojPosao, reveals that summer vacation habits among Croatian workers are shifting due to rising costs. Approximately 32% of respondents do not plan to go on a summer holiday this year, an increase from 27% last year. The primary driver for this decision is financial constraints, cited by 60% of those staying home.
There is also a noticeable trend toward shorter vacations. The proportion of employees planning to use seven days or fewer of annual leave has risen to 21%, up from 15% previously. Conversely, the number of people planning long breaks of 21 days or more has dropped significantly to 3%.
While domestic travel remains the top choice for 56% of respondents, interest in traveling abroad has declined from 21% to 17%. Analysts note that the cost of summer holidays in Croatia has nearly doubled over the last five years, contributing to these more cautious spending patterns.
