Central Europe weather transition brings rain and cooling

A widespread weather transition is occurring across Central Europe, marking the end of an unseasonably warm and sunny autumn period. Most regions are currently experiencing mild temperatures and clear skies, but a significant shift is expected mid-week.

Starting around Thursday, a cold front will move through the region, bringing increased cloud cover, rain, and potential thunderstorms. In many areas, including Austria, the Czech Republic, and parts of the Balkans, this will be accompanied by a sharp drop in temperatures. In higher elevations, such as the Alps, the snowfall line is expected to descend, potentially bringing light snow to mountain passes.

Forecasts indicate that while some areas may see temporary relief with sunshine early in the week, the subsequent cooling will be notable. For instance, in the Czech Republic and Austria, daytime highs that previously reached above 20°C are expected to fall significantly, with some areas seeing temperatures drop to between 10°C and 15°C by the weekend.
