Greek and Montenegrin Women’s U20 Basketball Teams Earn Promotion at Euro B Division
The Greece women’s U20 basketball team finished second at the European Championship Division B in Samokov, Bulgaria, losing the final 78‑43 to Portugal. Despite the defeat, the silver‑medal performance secured Greece’s return to Division A. Key contributors were Myrto Lianoudi and Fotini Syrpa, each scoring 11 points, with Sofia Giapitzoglou adding seven.
In the same tournament, the Montenegro women’s U20 team claimed the bronze medal by defeating Slovakia 70‑55. The victory also guaranteed Montenegro a spot in Division A for the next season. Standout performances came from Marija Sekulović (7 points), Atina Radević (23 points) and Sanja Akšam (10 points, 17 rebounds). Both nations will compete in the top tier of European women’s U20 basketball next year.
