Croatia workers average 25 vacation days, 59% expect holiday bonus

A survey by Alma Career Croatia, published on the MojPosao portal, finds that Croatian employees receive an average of 25.1 days of paid leave, the highest among respondents from Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and North Macedonia. While most workers would like more time off – 63 % desire additional days – only 6 % believe extending leave would hurt productivity. Respondents say an ideal entitlement would be 30 days.

Leave entitlement varies by employer size and ownership: large public‑sector organisations offer about 26.1 days, midsize firms 23.6 days and the smallest companies 22.4 days. Employees in foreign‑owned private companies receive roughly 24.5 days, versus 22.8 days in domestically owned firms. Regarding the holiday‑bonus (regres), 59 % of Croatian workers expect to receive it this year, up from 56 % last year. The most common expected amounts are up to €250 (35 %) and up to €500 (36 %). Expectation rates are highest in state‑owned employers (90 %).
