Croatian and Bosnian insurers push digital tools to boost low home‑insurance uptake
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Feđa Morankić, president of ASA Central, says most people readily purchase car Kasko insurance costing thousands of convertible marks, while home insurance premiums are low – about 200 KM per year – and many households remain under‑insured. He notes that pet insurance costs roughly the same as a home policy, around 150 KM annually, and highlights the need for insurers to educate customers about protecting their most valuable assets.
In Croatia, Marko Ćosić, director of digital business at Croatia osiguranje, explains that citizens typically consider insurance only after a loss. To change this mindset, the company launched the LAQO app with a “LAQOsfera” benefits program that encourages everyday use of insurance products. Premiums per capita are €497, representing 2.25 % of GDP, well below the OECD average, prompting the insurer to modernise processes and promote continuous engagement with policyholders.
