Croatia conducts large-scale military and civil protection exercises
Croatia has conducted a series of significant military and civil protection exercises across various regions. The Croatian Armed Forces, specifically the 2nd Mechanized Battalion 'Gromovi' of the Guards Mechanized Brigade, carried out large-scale inter-service training in Dalmatia. These exercises involved air and sea landings using Mi-171Sh helicopters and naval vessels such as the DBM-82 Krka and DJB-107, alongside urban operations. This training aims to meet NATO capability goals and enhance coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
In addition to military maneuvers, specialized SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Extraction) Level C training was completed by 12 personnel at the Eugen Kvaternik training ground near Slunj. This intensive training included a 72-hour continuous exercise designed to test physical and mental endurance in isolation scenarios.
Civilian preparedness was also highlighted through various firefighter exercises and anniversaries. In Rasinja, the 'Podravina 2026' exercise brought together over 100 firefighters and emergency responders to test coordination during complex interventions. Other regional milestones included the 155th anniversary of the Karlovac Volunteer Fire Department and the 150th anniversary of the Stara Moravica Volunteer Fire Department, which featured the arrival of new equipment and commemorative ceremonies.
