Croatian athletes excel at Balkan Wrestling Championship and regional honors

The Croatian national wrestling team achieved significant success at the 2026 Balkan Wrestling Championship held in Koprivnica, securing a total of 20 medals and two team trophies. Notable performers included members of the Slatina Wrestling Club, such as Tija Hršak, who won a gold medal in the U20 59kg category, and Anabella Tašić, who earned a bronze medal in the U15 42kg category.

In Zadar County, Prefect Josip Bilaver hosted a reception to honor various successful athletes and coaches. The event celebrated achievements from clubs including HK Zadar, VK Zadar 1952, and the Posedarje Cycling Club. Among the honored athletes was Marijana Šumski, a Croatian national representative who secured a world title at the Student Championships in Portugal and a silver medal at the European Championships in Poreč. Additionally, young water polo players from VK Zadar 1952 were recognized for their international successes, including world and European titles within various age categories.
